IRS Representation

The IRS has contacted you, now what! This is not the time to “hide your head in the sand”.

When you contact us and we agree that your case is a good fit for both you and our firm, we will get a Power of Attorney from you so we can discuss your situation with the IRS and so we can get a tax transcript. Our initial time will be spent studying the transcript and the original tax return submitted. We will develop a plan to resolve the issue.

  • Notices: Most of the time when the IRS contacts you it is through a notice and it is to help the government understand something on your tax return. No need to panic. We will help resolve the notice.
  • Desk Audits: Occasionally you may receive a letter that you are receiving a desk top audit. This means they are auditing your return or certain aspects. They do not plan to visit you unless you can not provide the data requested or refuse to participate.
  • Audits: This can be a more serious issue. The IRS plans to visit you and you should be prepared to provide substantiation of positions taken on your tax return.  This is a more time consuming and frankly expensive process.
  • Installment Agreements: So you owe the IRS and you can not pay. Don’t hide.  Set up an installment agreement that you can afford. The IRS has tools to help them understand how much you can afford based on your income.
  • Offer In Compromise: This is a negotiation with the IRS to reduce your tax liability based on your income and assets. This is a time consuming costly process but can be a great option for the right person in the right situation.

Our firm handles all of these situations for our clients. We have many years experience working with the IRS to get the best results for our clients. Ask us for client reviews!
